Beyond the Textbook: A Focus on Teaching for Multiple Literacies in SS Education
Presenters will focus on how to meet NYS SS Education Standards by focusing on both oracy and print literacy. They will share strategies for using fiction and non-fiction appropriate for young adult readers in class book clubs, for developing readers’ theatre approaches to better understanding historical documents and experience, and for exploring multi-genre research writing with Social Studies content and contexts.
